Essie, you used to be my one and only. But lately, I have strayed.
Cult Nails, Butter London, China Glaze…
Even so, you still have a special place in my heart.
Go Overboard, a deep teal from Essie’s Spring 2012 collection by the same name, is a beauty. With such a thick, highly-pigmented formula, you could get away with one coat, though I went with two. A lot of Essies are three-coaters for me, so this one is impressive.

With a name like Go Overboard, I had to take this baby to the waterfront. Who cares if it's 20 degrees out and I can't feel my fingers.
This bold, glossy shade works well on my skin tone, and I could imagine it looking great on olive or darker skin, too. It’s part of a spring collection, but I think it rocks as a winter polish.
Also from the Go Overboard collection, Armed and Ready is a dark olive green with a subtle golden shimmer.
The formula is much thinner and less pigmented than Go Overboard. I used two coats, but probably should have used three since I have a few small bald spots. I’m not crazy about this one on me, but I don’t hate it, either.
In some light, Armed and Ready takes on more of a slate grey tone, which I really like.
While Go Overboard is the winner for me out of these two, they’re both strong new colors from Essie. The lady knows how to do polish.
Time to go defrost my hands. Oh, what I’ll do for nail polish!
